Course Objectives

Upon Completion of this Seminar the participant shall be able to:

  • Define Muscle Energy Technique and understand proper application for the patient.
  • Identify Segmental/Somatic Dysfunction in the Spine, Pelvis and Ribcage and apply MET
  • Identify restrictions in selected joints of extremities and apply MET
  • Review 10 step screen and complete a full body assessment applying manual medicine principles
  • Apply MET and corrective exercise to enhance recovery with whiplash injuries
  • Discuss the Restrictive Barrier Concept and its importance in the application of MET.
  • Demonstrate proper palpation skills and mobility testing in assessing the need for MET.
  • Understand corrective exercises to apply after performing MET, and the consequences of treatment application.

Course Description:

Advanced Muscle Energy Techniques is a course specifically designed for the PT, PTA, and AT to practice and enhance skills learned in our prerequisite entry level courses: 
  • MET for the Lumbar Spine and Pelvis
  • MET for the Cervical, Thoracic Spine & Rib Cage

Advanced Muscle Energy Technique will cover comprehensive screening and treatment of the full body utilizing manual medicine principles.

  • Treatment application for Whiplash injury
